    SELECTION AND STUDY OF AGRO-TOURISM FACILITIES IN THE IMERETI REGION OF GEORGIA

    Agro-tourism a type of tourism, when the aim of tourist is to live like a local, work with him in the fields, have his meal on the table together with him, i.e. to become part of his family for a certain time period. In order to provide branding of tourism as “a rural tourism” in Georgia, with the support from the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation, the home page has been designed on the main web page of the Tourism Geo-Information Center (which is being in the process of constant updating), on which there will be placed the agro-tourism facilities of Georgia with the appropriate itinerary. Also, a single agro-tourism database will be set, which will be available on the Internet.

    In regional market of tourist transport services, it is necessary to find new forms of relationships between the market entities, since the currently existing forms are characterized by many negative aspects, and in modern economic conditions they are inadequately effective. As a result of analyzing and carrying out research works on organizational models currently existing in the market of tourist transport services, it has been established that at a regional level that it is expedient to find such a form of relationships between the market entities as consolidation of travel companies and transporters (having specialist vehicles). Such form of consolidation allows for resolving numerous problems arising during the travel catering process, as well as enables travel companies to be more efficient, reduce the number of intermediaries between the market entities, minimize costs and improve the quality of transport services.

    It is impossible even imagine tourism development without using modern innovative technologies. The modern WEBGIS and Mobile systems allow putting in an absolutely new light the country’s tourist potential.

    The tourist routes, tourist facilities and infrastructures indicated on the digital interactive geo-information map (GIS) with textual and visual (photo, video) information, which are integrated on the tourist web-portal and in the touch-screen devices (cell phones, graphics pads, smart-phones) make the mentioned information available in any country of the world.

    The Center of Geographic Information of Georgia has developed a mobile application “TravelGIS” for the mobile devices operating on the platform of Android and IOS, which have no analog in the world. The mentioned application is designed in three languages (Georgian, English, Russian) and represents the information-communicative means for tourist organizations (companies and tour operators), tourist destinations and for promoting the whole country’s tourist potential. Any interested person can find and select on his own cell phone the information by any desired criteria – country, region, Tourist Company, infrastructure unit, type of tourist services, duration and complexity).

    The role of international tourism in economic development of Georgia and its regions is very large, which involves such significant tourism objects as customer-travel agents-tour operators- tourist transport services providers. With account for interests and demands of customers, the key things here are correct planning and operative management of such complex material-information processes, as tour formation and realization. International Tourism is a highly effective basis for foreign currency inflows to the country.
