The University of Defence students are ground “stones” for safety studies in future. Their education process is the basic step for ensuring security for the Czech Republic in the next decades. The article deals with the very current topic – the success rate of distance education of first-year students of the University of Defence in Brno in vocational-oriented subjects in a long-term context. The article formulates the results of the study. The study is to focus on the first year of study that the students of both University faculties completed according to the currently valid study program.
By comparing the results achieved by students in all first years of study (the group consisted of more than 500 respondents), we have gained a relatively straightforward and objective answer to the question concerning the effectiveness of distance learning from a long-term perspective. The first semester of the university studies was realised in distance learning compared to the standard system d ominated by fulltime teaching joined with practices and seminars. The second semester was realized, as usual, students were returned to the s tandard study program.

Combat Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGV´s) are platforms designed for the replacement of the human element on the battlefield. Their autonomy depends on their respective level of technical development. Many armies invest varying levels of effort into the development of prototypes and solutions of UGV´s. They have various abilities and limits. Th is article uses open sources while identifying the current global state of perspectives in the short term. The authors are convinced that artificial intelligence, military robotics, and its implementation into operational structures can disrupt the process of conflict and will have a strong impact on the ratio of forces in regions throughout the world.

The article deals with the topic related to the training of the University of Defence students for the future security environment. The authors introduce their experience gained due to a specific method of training, which is aimed at a new generation of commanders-leaders. They present their results from 2016 to 2020 and the development of this course in consideration with new security challenges. The authors describe selected tools, by means of which the students achieve training goals, forms of multidisciplinary skills and the characteristics of cadets in one. The following results may initiate the discussion of the system and approach to the training of military cadets as potential workers in the field of national and international security.
