    Lightweight porous ceramic has a number of advantages over the tightly sintered one depending on the field of application. As a building material with low thermal conductivity and good sound insulation properties, foam ceramic is a suitable material for the production of thermal and sound insulation panels, partition walls, as well as for layers laid under asphalt to protect road and urban square pavements from freezing. As a filling, foamed ceramic materials are also added during the production of lightweight concrete used in construction and architecture and in the manufacture of decorative and non-structural insulation elements. In the present study we consider the characteristics of marl clay, found around the village of Lovets near the town of Shumen, with coal as a foaming additive, and the technological regulation for the manufacture of foam ceramic blocks.

    The subject of this article is a study on the composition and structure of innovative Porous Composite Material (PCM). The latter is obtained from powders of glass waste and heat-treated rice husks. The PCM is non-flammable, non-combustible and has high heat and sound insulation properties. The structural elements made of it are lighter and stronger than the ones made of foam glass. It is expected that PCM is to find wide application in construction and as an absorbent of heavy metals and oil from polluted water

  • Conditions for obtaining and characteristics of lead-free passive elements for high energy impact

    Compression was carried out of modified copper powder workpieces at a pre-determined value of the pressure. High temperature sintering of the workpieces in a neutral medium at a temperature of 1,000°C was performed. A high density metal-ceramic composite material was obtained. Its structure and physico-chemical parameters were determined. Lead-free prototypes were created, corresponding to the weight and dimensions of the reference standard lead passive elements for high energy impact.
