The subject of the article is the planning and comprehensive preparation of an experiment for monitoring the condition of a satellite’s structure under vacuum conditions modelled using a space environment simulator. Simulating the space environment is essential for verifying the performance of materials, structural components and equipment prior to their actual launch. Such testing makes it possible to confirm the correctness of material selection, the accuracy of engineering calculations and the validity of technical decisions made during the design phase. The behaviour of materials under vacuum, extreme temperatures, sharp thermal fluctuations, and exposure to cosmic radiation may differ significantly from their performance under standard operating conditions on Earth.

An important aspect in organizing acoustic emission monitoring is the analysis of recorded data and selecting useful information. Despite noise suppression using frequency methods, its quantity in the recorded information can reach 99% because the process of degradation during operation typically progresses slowly, whereas the presence of acoustic noise is an inherent attribute of the technological process.
Noise suppression after data recording is carried out within the framework of the monitoring system’s software, although filtering algorithms may be specific to each application.

The article proposes a method of assessing the quality of multi-pass weld by acoustic emission. The AE method involves the identification of developing defects at the stage of stress changes in the material, as well as in the statically loaded state. In the process of control two independent data collection systems were used, which worked in the process of testing synchronously. The selected method of control of the object has a number of advantages over other methods of NDT.

Analysis of material condition of side frames of freight trucks before and after thermal hardening was performed by combined analysis of Acoustic Emission (AE) and strain diagrams during tests of samples cut from the frames. The kinetic of damage accumulation during loading to failure in the material after normalizing or volume-surface hardening was analyzed. Changes in ductility and toughness resource of the metal was evaluated.

The EA Signal tests registered during the static stretching of the X6CrNiTi18-10 steel (according to EN 10088) have been o included in the work. The tests were done in the room temperature and in the high temperature of – 400 C on the universal strength (tensile) machine ZDM-5 with the range of 0-50 kN equipped with the digital registration of the strength and stretching. The analysis of the EA signal intensity has been conducted, depending on the deformation of the sample and test temperature. On the basis of the EA signal there have been the own characteristic oscillation frequencies of the samples designated, being the effect of the degradation of the structure as a result of the increased load.
