The influence of Zn on the corrosion behavior of amorphous and nanosized rapidly solidified aluminum alloys (Al75Cu17Mg8)100-xZnx (x = 0; 1; 3) at. % and their crystalline analogues was studied. Data were obtained for resistance of basic and rapidly solidified aluminum alloys (Al75Cu17Mg8)100-xZnx (x = 0; 1; 3) at. % to uniform corrosion. It has been found that increasing the percentage of zinc increases the corrosion rate of both base alloys and rapidly solidified ribbons with similar composition. Pitting and intergranular corrosion tests have been performed. The parameters affected area, pitting density and pitting size were evaluated. An XRD analysis of the separated corrosion products was performed. It was found that the chemical composition, and not the amorphous microstructure of the ribbons, was of leading importance for the course of the corrosion process in the studied rapidly solidified ribbons (Al75Cu17Mg8)100-xZnx and base alloys.

The paper deals with an experimental measurement of the fatigue operating life of a specimen from the aluminium AlMgSi07 alloy on a built testing equipment, into which the welded joint was implemented. An importance of the measurement is in a comparison of achieved results with the same material, which was not subjected to welding. The result of the research is verification of the influence of welding on the fatigue operating life of the concrete material at torsion stress.

The feachures of structure and phase formation of TiC hardened Fe-based alloy at in-situ thermal synthesis from mixtures of TiH2, Fe, graphite and Ni powders had been investigated. It was shown that after synthesis at 1200 0С the structure of the alloy is a skeleton of titanium carbide grains of various shapes and sizes from 1 to 20 µm cemented with Fe-based binding substance mostly located around the titanium carbide grains. The phase composition of the obtained alloy includes mainly phases of titanium carbide and α-Fe. In the case of using the initial mixture with the Ni in the composition of the alloy along with the titanium carbide solid solution of Ni in alpha-iron and Ni-based compounds were identified. When Ni is used instead of Fe in initial powder mixture it leads to a noticeable refinement of the alloy grain structure: the size of the carbide grains is generally not more than 5-7 microns. With the decrease in Ni content in the mixture and respectively increase of iron content at the same Ti and graphite content, the particle size increases markedly and approaches with 5 % of Ni to the particle size of the alloy obtained from the mixture containing no Ni.

Structural investigations performed by the methods of X-ray diffractometry and scanning electron microscopy of electrodeposited iron-based coatings revealed common and specific features and regularities of influence of nickel and chromium on their structure formation. Significant changes in surface morphology, crystallographic texture and microhardness of the electrodeposited coatings caused by the insertion of nickel and chromium in the sulfate iron-plating electrolyte were found and compared.

The paper is devoted to studying the influence of technological process parameters of deposition on the composition, structure and strength characteristics of TiN coatings on titanium alloy OT4-1. The TiN coatings were deposited by a vacuum-arc evaporator. In addition, the influence of the type of layers formation on microhardness and wear resistance of TiN layers and a metal substrate is presented.
