    3D cartographic design is successfully implemented using the modern resources of Bing-Maps, Blender-3D software and the BlenderGIS-addon application. In addition to the quality of the resulting end-models, the performance of these programs and applications is highlighted by its free license and open source. In the present study, a 3D model of a part of a geographical area in Varna, Bulgaria was developed. For the research purposes the geographic area of the Technical University – Varna, comprising a part of the campus is determined. The finished 3D model contains information with the exact positions and names of the selected objects.

    Creating 3D models of molecules and chemical compounds is a necessity in scientific work, which examines different states, structures, processes and interaction of molecules. This is done through the use of comprehensive 3D graphics programs as well as specialized applications containing and maintaining a database of ready-made models. The ability to work with good 3D graphics platform such as Blender combined with available resources of ChemSpider and Open Babel, builds a powerful system allowing the creation of highquality and realistic virtual models of molecules and chemical compounds.

    Protein Data Bank features affordable standardized high-quality 3D models of biological molecules. In certain cases it is necessary standardized 3D geometry models to be used for specific tasks, which are set requirements for the direct integration. This is required in cases of creation of simulations, animation of processes, interactive visualization or presentations. The implementation of such processes is complex and require precision and correct selection of the technological tools that promote the realization of the work.

    For the needs of the medical, biomedical and other professionals the Protein Data Bank (PDB) is the principal place – a repository of 3D structured data of biological molecules. For visualization, simulation and animation of various processes it is necessary the 3D models of proteins and nucleic acids to be combined with proper 3D graphics platform. Such is Blender, which has some big advantages in 3D graphics, with suitable functional capabilities and is fully accessible to consumers.

    The development of virtual 3D dental models evolves with great pace. This is a stage of construction, which is of great importance in future developments of real manipulation, prosthetics and other activities set for execution. Concept of modeling of 3D dental models is determined on the basis of concrete requirements, factors and opportunities. A good basis for creating virtual dental models provide Blender software combined with specialized applications which improve the process of modeling.

    Creation of different types of simulations of moving mechanisms with involved elements as gears is widespread. Depending on the specific needs different techniques which enable the accomplishment of the assignment are applied. Of particular importance is the selection of suitable software system that contains the necessary tools, functional qualities, set of features for automating the drive mechanisms, simulations and animations. Furthermore, it is important to determine the accessibility to such resource. Under these conditions a very good solution is the system with open source Blender.

    It is customary for the preparation of technical documentation to use CAD (computer aided design) systems. Depending on the design and functionality they are divided into low, medium and high class. In certain cases, there are developed alternative software applications or such added to other basic systems with broad opportunities for development. At the present time open source programs are more widely used. This reinforces the interest of designers, engineers and architects to find possible application of such programs in the workflow. Contemporary and very good solution gives Blender free software with specialized application "MeasureIt".
