The ionic composition and dissolved organic carbon (DOC) in soil solution of four soil profiles, from the area of Obruchishte were analyzed and relationships with soil hydrophobicity were discussed. It was found that the greatest variation and leaching of NO3-, SO4 2-
and Ca2+ were from the profile of Obruchishte under ash, while of Na+ from Obruchishte under pine. In Obruchishte profile after cereals the highest content of Cl-, PO43- and NO3- were found in the investigated soil solution. No significant correlation was found between the chemical elements and WDPT, except for Obruchishte, stubble. In this profile a significant correlation was found between the Ca2+ and Mg2+ concentrations and WDPT. Significant relationship (R*=0.63, p<0.05) between DOC and WDPT was established only at the experimental profile Obruchishte under ash. Differences in the distribution of soluble organic carbon in soil profiles in our studies is most likely due to the heterogeneity of the geological materials used as a substrate for reclamation of the studied sites

Clay is a group of minerals that which is more industrial demanded material because of the specific strengths of some components of such clays in the fulfilments of some industrial and technological needs. The chemical composition and other important properties of clays are depended on the origin, location and some other environmental factors. The industrial applications might be varied upon the mineralogy of some of clay. In the existing research, three different types of clay were selected as the materials that namely as anthill clay, brick clay and roof tile clay. The selected types of clay samples were collected from three different regions in Sri Lanka. The collected clay samples were characterized using X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrophotometer, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrophotometer and optical microscope. According to the investigation results, there were observed the presence of Fe as the most abundant element in all of clays at least 75%, large amounts of kaolinite in three clay types, intermediate amount of quartz and trace amounts of rutile in three clay types. In addition that it is possible to present muscovite in brick clays as a trace mineral and some trace amounts of Fe minerals such as glauconite and marcsite in three clay types. When comparing of the mineralogy of such clays mainly those clays are possible to be further developed as the adsorption materials (adsorber) for the recovering of metals from waste water and polluted air and a recovery material to remove some unnecessary components in chemical processes.

Investigators has developed a complex technology of manufacture of high quality skelp and shipbuilding grades and nickel-,chromium-, molybdenum-, niobium- and vanadium- microalloyed steels with carbon mass fraction within 0.06% to 0.22% and manganese mass fraction within 1.0% to 1.7%. Over the course of the research, relative occurrence of surface cracks of various morphology – transverse, longitudinal, spider, net-like – on the concast slab surface has been determined. The above research resulted in the development of a number of technological innovations both in preparation of liquid steel for casting and in continuous casting itself, preventing initiation or reducing by 30% – 40% the amount of surface defects on the rolled plates.

The evaluation of the quality of production process on mechanical properties of reinforcing bars profile 10-32 of steel grade 35GS was performed, obtained in the conditions of the rolling production of JSC “ArcelorMittal Temirtau”. Using a complex quality parameter, the process of rebar production is characterized as stable and controlled.

The paper presents the application of modern computational approaches in determining the appropriate chemical composition of titanium alloys . Discusses three types of problems for the selection of the chemical composition of alloy at set requirements for mechanical properties . Tasks are solved in a different formulation of the target criteria . The proposed solutions are based on software model using approximation with artificial neural networks and genetic optimization algorithm.

In this research work are presented results and procedure for investigations different types of castings in order to check their properties according to appropriate standards, to identify type of unknown casting, to detect and analyze different type of defects in castings and to perform failure analyze in order to determine the reasons for fracture. Presented investigations are basic research activities which are performed almost in all research laboratories for investigations of castings.

They mainly consist of identification of visual inspection, investigation of chemical composition, investigation of mechanical properties and microstructural identification. Completing of the results from performed investigations and their analysis required information about investigated casting can be obtained.

In this research work are given result of investigations of three castings GJS- 450-10 cast iron, malleable cast iron and Hadfield steel casting.
