Land suitability analysis plays a crucial role in land use planning and decision-making processes. The utilization of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in land suitability analysis has become increasingly prevalent in recent years. GIS combined Multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) is a powerful process that integrates geographical data to make informed decisions. By considering multiple spatial factors, this method generates a comprehensive map highlighting the optimal locations for specific land-use purposes. This review paper aims to examine the application of GIS-based MCDA in land suitability analysis, based on a comprehensive review of the literature. Moreover, the review examines case studies that have applied GIS-based MCDA in land suitability analysis across various disciplines, including agriculture, urban planning, and environmental management. Overall, this review paper provides valuable insights into the role of GIS-based MCDA as a tool for land-use suitability analysis, highlighting its significance in sustainable land management practices.

Technological development must be used to support and facilitate the society safety and evolution. Hazard maps, created based on innovative computer software, have the purpose to prevent and reduce material damages, injuries and deaths. The present paper approaches the design and realization of hazard maps with the purpose of reducing the cross-border gaps between Romania and Republic of Moldova on flood vulnerability. The results conclude on prevention measures in case of emergency situations and regional planning at European Union East border for the increase of society safety.

We aim to develop a GIS to provide agricultural crop monitoring based on heterogeneous data. The GIS integrates multi-source data (space, air-born and ground-based data, meteorological, plant and soil agrochemical data and other data) as well as up-to-date research on crop modelling to support decision making in the management of crop status. Various geospatial input data are taken a view of as a source of information for crop monitoring system. The structure of the GIS, the components and their relations of crop m onitoring system based on remote sensing data are described in this paper.

3D cartographic design is successfully implemented using the modern resources of Bing-Maps, Blender-3D software and the BlenderGIS-addon application. In addition to the quality of the resulting end-models, the performance of these programs and applications is highlighted by its free license and open source. In the present study, a 3D model of a part of a geographical area in Varna, Bulgaria was developed. For the research purposes the geographic area of the Technical University – Varna, comprising a part of the campus is determined. The finished 3D model contains information with the exact positions and names of the selected objects.

Presented in this paper is the authors’ research of the different applications of the newest information technologies in agriculture.
Provided in this article is information concerning the use and application of GPS receivers and GIS software, which are valuable for the up- to-date agriculture. These technologies and their applications provide numerous possibilities, as for example mapping of the nature’s resources, evaluation of the environmental impact, mapping of different soil types, etc.

The different applications of the available hardware and software, which affects the efficacy and productivity of the agricultural activities, were analysed. Low-cost RTK-GPS receiver is represented. A technology for the data processing of the digital mapping information is provided as well.
