This paper focuses on actual knowledge of the effects of changes in infrastructure on modal split of different transport modes, as well as on knowledge of long-term evolution of modal split in areas with dynamic development of transport systems. Further it focuses on studies on relations between modal split and greenhouse emissions and on studies on social factors influencing travel behaviour. Important part of this article are summarisations of articles about changes of travel behaviour of inhabitants of locations, where was opened new transport infrastructure, with focus on new infrastructure intended for public transport.

The collection and analysis of transport data is of great importance for traffic engineers, who use that data to perceive existing problems and offer solutions. Depending on the type of data and the meaning available, there are different methods and equipment. Data collection can be done on sections, intersections, entire cities, hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and annually. For the city of Bitola, data collection was carried out for cars, buses and heavy goods vehicles in the peak hour according to the directions of movement, i.e. cordon counting, by setting up checkpoints with personnel on those roads that intersect with the cordon line. In this case, the vehicles in transit are important to us and we grouped them into two groups, cargo transit and individual traffic.

Strategies for sustainable transport, and consequently sustainable mobility, require the use of cleaner vehicles without harmful emissions. The use of alternative fuels contributes to realization of set strategies and different types of alternative fuels are increasingly present in the transport sector. There is great potential in the use of alternative fuels in public transport systems, since this mode of transport plays a very important role in sustainable mobility. The aim is to replace the conventional bus fleets with vehicles with newer and cleaner technologies. Within this paper, alternative types of fuels used in public bus transport will be presented, as well as practical examples of the application of these modes of transport.

Demographic change is one of main problems in the rural areas of the Central Europe region. Young and active people are moving to bigger towns and cities due to the lack of attractive opportunities and older and less educated people usually remain at the countryside. To attract economically active group of people to rural areas, appropriate public services must be offered there. Public transport offer is of high importance, since its high quality can improve quality of life, better reachability and can also attract more tourists to visit area. The European project RUMOBIL funded by Program Interreg Central Europe (Project number CE55) deals with various options for solving the problem of public transport service in the countryside.

In this paper, a simulation model of the novel concept of autonomous vehicles is developed for public transport (PT) service. The model aims to serve PT planners as a tool enabling the simulation of a metro-like, high-frequency service with punctual autonomous vehicles running on exclusive lanes. The model was applied in a numerical example of a passenger bus, with different scenarios employed. The outcome of the simulation shows that characteristics of the modelled system are reproduced, with the following results: (i) highfrequency, metro-like PT service, with reduced passenger waiting time, (ii) reduced vehicle capacity with reduced average dwell time; (iii) the least number of unserved passengers, across all scenarios, and (iv) better utilisation of vehicle capacity (with fewer unserved passengers) achieved through a small decrease in vehicle frequency, which led to a negligible increase of the average passenger waiting times. In addition, the model allows us to examine the system’s behaviour under uncertainty, considering passenger arrivals and vehicle headways as random input variables with predefined probability distributions. The proposed model enables modellers not only to evaluate a system’s performance, but also to examine different working conditions and possible future scenarios.

The segment of public passenger transport is a part of the everyday activities of the population. His task is to ensuring for the population commuting to work, at free time activity, shopping etc. The passengers must sometimes during of transport process to change of transport mode. The change is carried in the traffic hub, where the passenger can change the means of transport of the same transport mode or different transport modes. It is important to ensure continuity of public transport in the traffic hub. The current situation in the field of solving the problem has lack, not yet been to developed a complex assessment methodology. In practice this means, that all transfer times between different modes of transport are set from estimations coordinators integrated transport system. The changes of transfer times are performed operatively. In the contribution is set a new methodology of continuity public passenger transport in traffic hub.
