Studies on bimetallic ingots for armour by the methods of non-destructive testing

    Machines. Technologies. Materials., Vol. 15 (2021), Issue 3, pg(s) 107-109

We have carried out researches for working out technological electroslag remelting conditions to produce bimetallic ingots. A new plant flow diagram has been developed for the manufacture. Experimental series of melting was performed on a laboratory electroslag remelting installation by developed by us electroslag remelting conditions. Bimetallic ingots for armour were produced of different combinations steel grades. Ingot of X38CrMoV 5 1 (DIN 1.2343; AISI H11) -10G2SF perspective steel grades is investigated. By the method of non-destructive testing the fusion of two steel grades along height of ingot is investigated. Macrostructure of cast transverse templates is investigated. A complete fusion of steels is established.

Processing of bimetals in the electrolyte plasma

    Machines. Technologies. Materials., Vol. 13 (2019), Issue 7, pg(s) 291-293

Electrolyte plasma processing is environment-friendly and high-effective method to treat surfaces of metals and alloys and can be used for heat or thermochemical treatment as well as for cleaning or polishing of metal surfaces. Modes of processes in the electrolytic cell for different metals can partially overlap. So it is possible to perform the same or different processing for different metals (including components of bimetal) simultaneously. This article describes modes to be established at the active electrode during the anodic process, and application of these modes to various types of treatment of bimetals. It is shown that there exists an option of separate or simultaneous heat or thermochemical treatment, as well as polishing of one or both surfaces of bimetals.

  • ALUMINIUM BIMETAL STRUCTURE PRODUCTION BY LOST FOAM CASTING WITH LIQUID-LIQUID PROCESS

    Machines. Technologies. Materials., Vol. 8 (2014), Issue 10, pg(s) 43-46

Numbers of both ferrous and non-ferrous bimetal productions and applications have been increased due to useful advantages.
Bimetal fabrication techniques and procedures are developing and getting various. Liquid metal based techniques are in basic bimetal fabrication methods which have two types; liquid-solid and liquid-liquid processes. Lost foam casting technique can be successfully employed for both liquid-solid and liquid-liquid bimetal composite productions. In this work, A380 and A2014 aluminium alloys were used to produce bimetal structure by conventional lost foam casting with liquid-liquid process. There are two main principles of liquid-liquid process. First, both alloys are joined in liquid phase and solidified and second, crucibles tilting are carried out synchronously at the same time. HB hardness of the cast specimens were measured and micro structure of the joint field were observed.
