The paper presents the results of a research focused on the application of laser surfacing of functional surfaces using an additve material in the form of a wire. Cladding is made in a single layer using a robot. The quality of the cladding layer was evaluated by ultrasonic inspection. Possible occurrence of internal defects was assessed. Macrostructures and microstructures were analyzed on metallographic sections using light microscopy. Influence of the used additive material and the cladding parameters on the microhardness behaviour in the individual parts of the test specimens was also evaluated.

Presented article deals with the description of the technology of pattern steel production – forging welding, evaluation of fracture surfaces and mechanical tests of examined samples (resulting steel and its individual components). The damascus steel (pattern steel) was prepared by forge welding from a packet consist of a few hundred layers. Marbling was created by folding layers of 2 components: hard and tough steel of different thickness. For evaluation of mechanical properties was applied: Charpy impact test. The evaluation of the fracture surfaces of individual samples was performed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The values of mechanical properties of pattern steel themselves are in the range of values of mechanical properties of individual components. The fracture surfaces of the materials have a characteristic relief (in relation to the mechanical properties of the individual components).

The present publication is aimed at obtaining a stable sol from ZrO2 stabilized with Y2O3. The substrate on which the layers are deposited was developed by a team from Russia and is intermetalite with a layered structure Nb30Ti/Al. Deposition was performed by spinning with a Spin Coater Ossila L2001A3. The deposition sequence of the layers lasts 30 seconds. The finished carrier is dried at 120°C in an oven. It is heated in a laboratory furnace at 350oC. The results were characterized by XRD and SEM analyzes.

The paper is devoted to studying the influence of technological process parameters of deposition on the composition, structure and strength characteristics of TiN coatings on titanium alloy OT4-1. The TiN coatings were deposited by a vacuum-arc evaporator. In addition, the influence of the type of layers formation on microhardness and wear resistance of TiN layers and a metal substrate is presented.
