The features of recrystallization of steels with different chemical composition and type of crystal lattice under laser action were investigated. These processes are of great importance in high-speed laser heating and cooling, as well as in the formation of the microstructure of steels under the influence of residual heat.
It was found that recrystallization under laser action has signs of a dynamic process due to an increase in the dislocation density. In addition, the dislocation substructure of steel is inherited from the initial hot-deformed state. It is shown that the mechanism of laser recrystallization depends on the type of steel, chemical composition, and crystal lattice.
In different steels, the development of primary, collective, and secondary recrystallization was observed. In this case, the change in the grain structure of steels took place against the background of an increased density of dislocations and the formation of a cellular dislocation substructure.

In this work it was studied the influence of low-carbon steel wire annealing at different temperatures from 500 to 750 °C that was obtained by cold drawing on its structure and properties. It was sown that bigger work-hardening during the drawing process leads to the decreasing of collective recrystallization starting temperature, which could resulting in obtaining less plastic properties than are appear after lower annealing temperatures with additional loss of strength. The found effects give valuable information for cases when it is desirable to obtain the minimal strength or the maximum plasticity of the wire.

A new class of die steels for hot deformation, namely, steels with regulated austenitic transformation realized during exploitation (RATE) have been developed in Russia. These steels are characterized by the technological advantages typical of traditional α-solid solution-based steels and, when working in the austenite state, assure the enhanced tool life. The structure, phase composition and hardening of RATE steel have been analyzed by an example of steel containing 0.41 % C, 1.04 % Si, 3.59 % Mn, 2.41 % Cr, 5.07 % Ni, 2.40 % Mo, 0.69 % V, 0.51 % Ti, 0.25 % Co subjected to thermomechanical treatment, which includes the austenization and multiple plastic deformation. The nanophase hardening occurs in RATE steels being in the austenitic state, during multiple plastic deformation at temperatures of 450-750 °C. The precipitation of nano-sized heat-resistant excess phases ensures the inhibition of recrystallization processes at operating temperatures, inhibits the grain growth, and increases the stability of the austenite.
