The impact of COV – 19 pandemic on use of public transport in selected city in Slovakia

    Trans Motauto World, Vol. 7 (2022), Issue 1, pg(s) 30-34

The aim of the article was to analyze the impact of lockdowns carried out during the Covid-19 pandemic in Slovakia in the years 2020 and 2021 on changes in public transport utilization in a selected locality. The sample city was the city of Košice in Slovakia and the sample contained data about the number of transported persons by public transport in this city during single days in the years 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021.
We created weekly time series from line graphs compiled for separate years. Subsequently, we analyzed the dynamics of individual time series using calculations of absolute and relative increments, basic indices, growth coefficients, absolute increment and total growth coefficient, and we modeled trends in time analysis and exponential adjustment for the observed years. We compared the years before the pandemic (2018, 2019) with the years most affected by the Corona crisis (2020, 2021). We evaluated the obtained data in the context of the timeline of ongoing lockdowns.

  • THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS AND SPECIFICITY OF MATHEMATICAL MODELLING

Matlab as a teaching, learning and motivating tool for engineering mathematics

    Mathematical Modeling, Vol. 4 (2020), Issue 2, pg(s) 42-44

The present paper describes the fact that revised and pedagogically justifiable implementation of CAS systems (e.g. Matlab system) is a great contribution to teaching higher mathematics. It brings practical applications to mathematics teaching and thus enhances motivation and students’ interest in the discussed topic. The Computer Algebra System, popularly known as CAS, is a modern computing technology that provides great learning and teaching opportunities to both students as well as instructors. MATLAB is one of the most popular CAS programs that is widely used in mathematics classrooms especially at the university level. As more and more universities are adopting its use in education, it is necessary to study and analyze how the software could be used in teaching and learning of mathematics. It has been shown to be a technology that could be used for developing mathematical thinking, concepts and skills, and a source of motivating students for learning mathematics. It is also a very useful tool in demonstrating connections in various underlying mathematical concepts in the teaching and learning processes.

  • Increasing transport efficiency by using wireless transmissions

    Industry 4.0, Vol. 4 (2019), Issue 3, pg(s) 130-133

The main subject of this article is description of an actual two realizations of the connection between trucks and centre using GPS and GPRS and WI-FI technologies in Slovak companies. There are described advantages of the freight cars connection using wireless technologies, as advanced trends of wireless technologies using in the road transportation. There are described basic concept of wireless technologies GPS and GPRS and possibilities of using these nets in a road transport for Fleet tracking and realization of the connection between trucks and centre using WI-FI technologies.
