    Influence of the different brands of braking pads in performance of vehicle braking system

    In the Republic of Kosovo, the unemployment rate has an increasing trend, the average monthly income is still low, which makes it impossible to buy a new vehicle, so they are forced to buy vehicles imported from European countries, which have a h igh rate of amortization.
    Citizens who own used vehicles are obliged to perform services that cost less by avoiding quality equipment and replacing them with non-know manufactures for spare parts which cost cheaper compared to manufacturers of well-known and guaranteed brands. The use of such spare parts is directly affecting the increase in the number of accidents in the territory of the Republic of Kosovo. In this paper is study the efficiency of brake pads from different manufacturers – brands in the term of the braking system in passenger vehicles such as: braking time, maximum deceleration and braking distance. The tests were done with used vehicles equipped with the ABS system, on roads with dry asphalt. The used tires are from radial construction with summer characteristics. Depending on the treated methodology, the adequate equipment such as Xl meter, video cameras and meter are used. The obtained results through the decelerometer device (Xl meter) for deceleration of the vehicle and other indicators of the efficiency of the braking system has done with the case of emergency braking. Prior to each test, the predicted used vehicle has performed also technical inspection of the vehicle braking system in the Licensed Centers for technical inspection of the vehicle.

    Since January this year, all trains of the Dutch Railways use electricity from wind energy. The electricity from this renewable source is increasingly being used in the world. Insight into the future of transportation will provide versions of "Hyperloop" transportation system, a super fast train that can develop a speed of 1.200 kilometers per hour.

    At 23rd of January 2017 in Paris started to run the bus without driver also with aim to reduce pollution in the city. In February 2017 the public learnt of a new taxi service in Dubai that will be implemented from June 2017. These are drones on batteries, which are made in China, EHANG 174.

    Authorities in Norway have reported that electric or hybrid cars make half of newly registered vehicles in the country during 2017. It is believed that this is a turning point on the way to the Norwegian fleet of electric vehicles and serves as the proof that policy of green transport produces results.

    Lot of work is being done to make hydrogen-powered cars a reality. So many automakers are developing hydrogen-powered cars. These hydrogen-powered cars we can expect to see in the near future. Not many people have heard of the technology and from an infrastructure standpoint, purely electric vehicles make more sense. In the new 2017 „Faraday Future“, American manufacturer of electric cars in Las Vegas presented the "new kind of car," electric sedan that will have acceleration of the "Formula 1" and the ability to learn and adapt to the driver. Did "Tesla" won the competition, and it is FF-91, which should be produced in 2018?

  • IMPORTANCE OF TECHNICAL INSPECTION OF VEHICLES AFTER TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS

    The factors that affect on traffic safety are human, vehicle, road and environment. In Croatia the leading cause of traffic accident is human, in just 0,2% of traffic accident the cause is some technical defect on vehicle. However, analyzing the information that on the regular annual technical inspection more than 22% of the vehicle did not meet the technical requirements, to assume is that the number of defective vehicles that causes traffic accidents is significantly higher. In order to determine the relevant statistic data of vehicle as a cause of traffic accidents, it is necessary to implement technical inspection of vehicle that are involved in traffic accident. Research objectives are to determine how many defective vehicles were involved in traffic accident, how many of them might have been the cause of a traffic accident, and which elements on the vehicle are possible cause of traffic accident.

    The development of microelectronics intervened greatly in the automotive industry, therefore this fact cannot be ignored in the education. In today’s teaching absent methods, special classrooms and didactic tool, that allow to know the operating principle, processes understanding and also diagnostics of vehicle electronic systems. The project, which is realising at the University of Žilina intended for the modern education of several study programs is presented in this paper.

    This project will influence on professional qualifications of project investigators. They will improve their knowledge by means of professional training. New knowledge they will transfer subsequently in the education.

    The strategic goal of the project is “Reconcile the needs of the knowledge society and the labour market in higher education in the field of automotive technology”.

  • A COMPARISON OF FUEL CONSUMPTION BETWEEN THE NEW EUROPEAN DRIVING CYCLE TEST AND THE NATURAL OPERATION OF A VEHICLE

    There are many changes in the automotive industry which leads to improved to safety and reduce fuel consumption. A new design of vehicles are being modernized, reducing aerodynamic resistances and the weight of vehicle units. However it is forgotten about the same time changing and updating the fuel consumption’s tests. The cars are tested with New European Driving Cycle test which based on directive 91/441/EEC (26 June 1991). It’s been 23 years. NEDC was developed at a time when European vehicles were lighter and less powerful. The test offers a stylized pattern for low speed acceleration (a = 0.89 m / s), speed, ride at idle, but temporary increase is much steeper and more dynamic in practice, in part due to the excess capacity of modern engines.

    This paper presents a comparison of fuel combustion Polish users registered on the famous automotive’s forum between factory data vehicles selected. As a result, it is hard for drivers to reach the certified values in practice.

    The new version of the driving cycle should be more realistic to the everyday use of additional equipment and gadgets that are installed in modern vehicles.
