Achieving a comprehensive approach to the issue of resilience of entities that are critical to the proper functioning of the national economy requires the creation of a comprehensive framework addressing the resilience of critical entities to all hazards, whether natural or anthropogenic, accidental or intentional. For this purpose, good practice implies the use of European and international standards and technical specifications that are relevant for both security measures and resilience measures applicable to critical infrastructure.
Precisely, the presentation of updated information on a possible approach that requires innovation in the field of security and protection of critical infrastructure is the content of this publication.

The possibility that nuclear or other radioactive material could be used for malicious purposes cannot be ruled out in the current global situation. Operators have responded to this risk by engaging in a collective commitment to strengthen the protection and control of such material and to effectively respond to nuclear security events. Nuclear security is fundamental in the management of nuclear technologies and in applications where nuclear or other radioactive material is used or transported. Identification of vital areas is an important step in the process of protecting against sabotage. Vital area identification (VAI) is the process of identifying the areas in a nuclear facility around which protection will be provided in order to prevent or reduce the likelihood of sabotage.

Joint scientific and applied research occupies its place as a major innovation process in the activities of scientific, educational and business organizations. The purpose of this approach is to gain access to external sources of technology (or other assets) and their integration into products and services to build security of critical infrastructure and strategic sites of national importance.
Partnerships in the development of security systems can bring added value to partner organizations, allowing them to use a wider network of promising assets and markets and helping them gain trust and prestige in society.
